John Tenhundfeld, MD
Dr. John Tenhundfeld was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Vanderbilt University where he graduated with a BS in Molecular Biology. He attended medical school at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. During his residency at Saint Joseph Hospital/Northwestern University, he received recognition as a Burroughs Wellcome Family Practice Scholar. Dr. Tenhundfeld is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and is certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He has hospital privileges at Saint Joseph Hospital and Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He is a clinical instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at both hospitals.

Wendy A. Ploegstra, MSN, RN, FNP-BC
Ms. Ploegstra received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Calvin College and her Master of Science from Rush University. She is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner. For those unfamiliar with Nurse Practitioners, they complete nursing degrees and then receive additional training in general medicine, which allows them to provide a broad range of health care services. Nurse Practitioners work in collaboration with a medical doctor to ensure that you will always receive appropriate, individualized care.
Ms. Ploegstra is available to provide most of the services you are accustomed to receiving at Lincoln Park Family Physicians, including:
- Diagnosis and treatment of illness
- Well woman/ gynecologic exams
- Pediatric care- well child care and treatment of illness
- Routine physicals for adults
- Prescriptions for illness and referrals to specialists
She is particularly interested in women’s health and pediatric care.
